Written, Composed and Presented by Dr. John Buswell

This package will ensure that management, staff and learners are adequately trained in safety and protection issues. By teaching a child how to avoid possible dangers and what to do if they find themselves in a potentially harmful or threatening situation, you will empower the child to know what to do in such circumstances.

About the presenter:

  • Our Group CEO, John Buswell, has over the past 20 years:
  • Presented to learners, educators and parents at over 800 schools in Southern Africa
  • Headed up both the Education Safety Governance Association and NOSA Schools division
  • Trained over 35,000 educators, psychologists, social workers and medical doctors
  • Presented to over a million learners on topics such as peer victimization, sexuality, drug and alcohol abuse and anger management
  • Testified as an expert witness in over 200 criminal cases of murder, sexual assault and child abuse

Introduction:

Most parents tend to regard the school their children attend as a second home. They would want to believe the school is responsible for more than just their children’s education. It is a place that is supposed to keep the young ones safe from harm and abuse. They trust that the principal and teachers at the school would create a safe learning environment, train staff in child protection and take appropriate action when they identify pupils who are suffering from risk or harm.

The sad truth is that teachers and management are not normally trained to deal with the real issues of school safety and child protection obligations. Recent negative media has proven that schools are ill-equipped to deal with real issues at hand, physical abuse, sexual abuse, drug abuse and reporting obligations.
